Why do you need to wash your lashes?

🧼 Why You Must Wash Your Eyelash Extensions Regularly

If you take a look at the picture, it explains it all! When you wash your lashes regularly, you help prevent the growth of Demodex Folliculorum — tiny mites that can live in your lash follicles.
If you don’t know what they are… trust me, you’ll want to read this!

I've been doing eyelash extensions since 2009, and I’ve seen many clients think they were allergic to the lash adhesive because their eyes were itchy or irritated. The truth? Sometimes it can be a mild adhesive allergy, but most of the time, it’s caused by poor lash hygiene.

When you skip cleansing your lashes, natural oils, makeup residue, and dead skin cells start to build up. This creates the perfect environment for bacteria and mites to grow — leading to itchiness, redness, and premature lash loss.

💧 How to Properly Wash Your Eyelash Extensions

Using a professional lash shampoo (not regular face cleanser!) at least 2–3 times per week is essential to maintain clean and healthy lashes.

Here’s how to use it:

  1. Apply a small amount of foam directly onto your eyelash extensions.

  2. Use a soft lash brush to gently cleanse along the lash line and eyelid.

  3. Rinse carefully with water and pat dry with a lint-free cloth.

Pro tip 💡: If you wear eye makeup daily or have oily skin, you can safely wash your lashes every day using a lash-safe formula.

👁️ Why Lash Hygiene Matters

Regular cleansing helps:

  • Prevent Demodex mites and eye infections

  • Avoid lash adhesive allergies and irritation

  • Improve lash retention and overall durability

  • Keep your lash extensions fluffy, clean, and beautiful

Think of lash cleansing like brushing your teeth — it’s small daily care that makes a huge difference in the long term!
